ARTIST STATEMENT
My paintings are not shy! I paint with an abundance of pigment and am in love with vibrant and bright watercolor & acrylic painting. The work that I create is filled with boldness and heart. To me painting is a celebration of color and I create with an exciting amount of contrasting lights and darks. This exciting celebration is a goal for each of my paintings. Local sites are important to me and I want to give homage to the historical beauty of our area. I strive to capture a creation on paper that will never change with the seasons, a painting that will become a ray of sunlight and will remain bright whether the sun is shining or not!
BIOGRAPHY
Growing up in a family that was very supportive of her art endeavors was the moving force behind JoAnn's choice of art as her path of creative expression. Her grandmother and great-grandmother were watercolor painters. Since she was about 8 she has been deeply engaged in celebrating her talent thru painting. Although she has had formal training, she says, "I consider myself an "on-going-self-taught-artist" with a little help from this beautiful world/nature we live in! "Who would not want to capture the beauty?" she questions. She is a member of the Petaluma Arts Association, Petaluma Arts Council, and WASCO. JoAnn has won numerous awards for her paintings and logo designs.
